With Lesson 1, you’ll learn that Google Classroom is a free online service for schools, non-profit organizations, and people using their personal Google Classroom accounts, making it easier for students and teachers to communicate with each other, both at school and outside. You will learn about the benefits of using Google Classroom, such as: easy configuration, time saving, better organization, cooperation with other web browsers and applications network security.
You will learn that teacher can create classes, manage them, provide comments and real-time grades. In turn, student has the ability to track materials, add them, submit assignments and receive grades.
With Lesson 2 you will learn how to use Google Classroom tools correctly and smoothly. Before working on a dedicated application, you must have a Google account. How to create it?
In lesson 3 you will learn how to start working with the Google Classroom application – just after logging into your Google account, select the Classroom option available under the Google Apps button, and then create classes. After creating new classes, you will be prompted to add new students or to enter a class code.
In the main panel you will see the active Stream tab, where all student and teacher activities, as well as the Tasks, Person Grades tabs are visible.
The possibilities offered by Google Classroom in terms of posting materials and cooperation with students and other teachers are discussed in this lesson. At the bottom of the Stream tab panel there is Share With Your Class button for sharing materials with students assigned to classes as posts. If we create posts, they can be used again by Use Post Again function.
It is possible to add files from Google Drive, other device, Youtube, URL address.
This card is visible only to users with teacher’s rights. This card shows users invited as well as current students and teachers. We also have the option of inviting more people. How to add new people?
Tasks tab – here you can assign tasks for students, create projects and questions for participants, and have the opportunity to create organized content into modules or units. On this tab (same as posts on the Stream tab), you can also arrange tasks in any order you want students to see. Additionally, it is possible to go to Google calendar, where, for example, dates of submitting the tasks/projects are saved.
We also have a preview of the classes on Google Drive.
Here you can edit tasks assigned to students in the class, go to the evaluation of received answers, view in tabular form the results of already obtained grades / points, as well as observe the summary of the average grades / points. It is worth noting that students cannot see this card – it is only available for teachers.
By asking a project / question to be carried out, we can edit or even delete set values directly from the Grade tab. If student wants to accomplish our task, he can send a specific file from computer or Google Drive and add a link to the material with answer. Student can also use Google documents to create a given task from scratch.
